Parkwood Elementary is a K–5 school in Jacksonville, NC, serving 457 students within Onslow County Schools, a district that ranks in the 45th percentile statewide. The school serves a moderate-poverty community—about 52.5% of students receive free or reduced-price lunch—and has a notable attendance advantage, with chronic absenteeism of just 17.2%, far below both the district rate of 22.7% and the state rate of 24.2%. This makes regular attendance a genuine strength that sets Parkwood apart from most of its neighbors.

It still outranks Northwoods Elementary (15th percentile) and Blue Creek Elementary (14th), but Clear View Elementary has moved ahead (52nd) and Clyde Erwin Elementary now sits slightly above it. On a more hopeful note, the school's Special Education students jumped from the 18th percentile two years ago to the 59th percentile in the latest results, showing that targeted efforts can make a meaningful difference for students who need extra support.
