North Gaston High

North Gaston High is a public high school in Dallas, North Carolina, serving about 1,061 students in grades 9 through 12. It is part of Gaston County Schools and currently ranks 519th out of 662 North Carolina high schools, placing the school in the bottom quarter statewide. Like its neighboring traditional public high schools, North Gaston serves an overwhelmingly low-income population — 99.7% of its students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch — with a student-teacher ratio of about 17.2 to 1.

Academically, North Gaston trails state proficiency averages by 10 to 21 percentage points on most end-of-course exams. English II is the most persistent concern, with 43.4% proficient compared to 64.6% statewide. But there are bright spots worth noting.
