Summary

Raven Stream Elementary is a PK–5 school in New Prague, MN — a small city southwest of the Twin Cities — and with 542 students it is the largest of the three tested elementary schools in New Prague Area Schools, ahead of Falcon Ridge and Eagle View.

In 2025-26 the school ranks 419th of 869 Minnesota elementary schools — the 52nd percentile, or 3 stars — which is mid-pack statewide and the lowest of the three New Prague elementaries. That is a real change: for roughly a decade Raven Stream was a top-quartile, 4-star school, peaking at the 86th–87th percentile, and it has since given back about 34 percentile points, with the steepest single-year drop in 2024-25. Math is the clearest bright spot. At 56.2% of students meeting standards, it sits essentially at district par (56.8%) and about 11 points above the state (44.9%). Reading is the opposite story at 45.6% — below both its own district (51.7%) and the state (48.6%).

Grade-level results are uneven rather than uniformly weak. Raven Stream posts the district's best 4th-grade math and holds its own in 5th-grade reading, but its 3rd-grade reading result (35.4%) trails Falcon Ridge by 23 points and the state by 11 — the largest gap between New Prague elementaries. The low science figure (19.2%) is a 5th-grade-only number, since science is tested just in grades 5 and 8, and it is roughly at district 5th-grade par (18.7%) though under the state (25.9%); it reflects one cohort, not a steady pattern. Class sizes are the largest in the local group, at 16.5 students per teacher. For comparison, Oak Crest Elementary in Belle Plaine, about 10 miles away, posts higher math, reading and science with a higher share of lower-income students — suggesting intake is not the limiting factor. Note that SW Metro Level 3 and Central Education Campus report no comparable scores; those blanks are state privacy suppressions, not signs of weak performance.
