Duluth Public School District serves roughly 8,472 students across 28 schools — 10 elementary, 4 middle, 8 high and 6 alternative programs — in Duluth, Minnesota. The district ranks 170 of 458 statewide, at the 63rd percentile with 3 stars, but that overall result masks a very wide spread: some schools rank in the top 5–10% of Minnesota while others sit in the bottom quartile or lower.

The standouts are led by East High School, the district's largest school at 1,495 students, ranked 18 of 473 high schools with a 95.9% graduation rate against the district's 80.3% and the state's 84.9%, and a 1.6% dropout rate. Ordean East Middle School is the strongest middle school, with reading at 64.8% versus the district's 54.7% and the state's 48.6%. Top elementaries include Lakewood Elementary (highest elementary reading, 72.2%), Homecroft Elementary (highest elementary math, 70.9%), Lester Park Elementary, Congdon Elementary and Lowell Elementary Spanish Immersion, which has the lowest free/reduced lunch rate among comprehensive schools at 14.29% and the top elementary science score at 55.6%. Together, the three largest schools enroll 41.1% of district students.

On the watchlist, Denfeld High School ranks 354 of 473, with math at 18.0 and reading at 24.3. Lincoln Park Middle School is improving (395 to 322 of 546) but is still at the 41st percentile. Stowe Elementary is the lowest-ranked elementary at 738 of 869, while Myers-Wilkins Elementary has the highest free/reduced lunch rate among comprehensive schools at 84.8% and low proficiency despite a student-teacher ratio of 7.7 — showing that small classes alone do not predict results. District-wide, math is 44.9, matching the state; reading is 54.7 versus 48.6; and science is 33.6 versus 25.5. Alternative programs mostly serve tiny cohorts with many suppressed scores, so compare them cautiously.
