Summary
California Republic Leadership Academy Capistrano is a 260-student K–8 school in San Juan Capistrano, an area with several nearby elementary schools as well as a home/virtual option. In 2025–26, all-grade proficiency was 71% in ELA, 54% in math, and 57% in science, above California rates of 49%, 38%, and 36%. The main takeaway is that results are strong against the state, but math is the school’s clearest relative weakness.
Compared with nearby schools, the school ranked third of 11 in ELA and science, but seventh of 11 in math. Its ELA and science rates were 15 and 16 points above the nearby-school averages, while math was only 2 points higher. Against the Capistrano Unified district, ELA was essentially even (70.7% at the school versus 70.6% districtwide), while math was 8 points lower and science 2 points lower. School results exceeded state rates in all three subjects, by 21 points in ELA, 16 in math, and 21 in science. Most nearby schools serve K–5, so all-grade comparisons are not perfectly matched by grade span.
Results have shifted over time: from 2023–24 to 2025–26, school proficiency fell 6 points in ELA, 25 in math, and 13 in science, even as state rates rose. However, ELA and science rebounded in the latest year, while math declined again. Chronic absenteeism improved from 18% in 2023–24 to 10% in 2025–26, compared with a state decline from 20% to 18%. SchoolDigger ranked the school 1,043 of 5,804 statewide (82nd percentile, four stars); its 2024–25 student-teacher ratio was 25.8, and 18% of students were free/reduced lunch eligible that year. One subgroup result stands out: SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile for how well the school serves “White Students” was 59 in 2025–26, 23 points below its overall percentile of 82; it had been 86 in 2023–24, then 40 in 2024–25.
