Ygnacio Valley High is a public high school in Concord, in the East Bay, serving grades 9–12 with 1,059 students in the Mt. Diablo Unified district. Its graduation rate is a bright spot: 96% in 2025–2026, compared with 88% statewide and 94% in the district. But chronic absenteeism was high at 31%, versus 18% statewide and 19% in the district. The most important concern is that proficiency remains below state and district levels in all three tested subjects, even after recent gains.

English is the school’s strongest subject relative to comparison schools, while math is its weakest. In 2025–2026, 37% of students were proficient in English language arts, compared with 49% in the state and 49% in the district; math proficiency was 17%, versus 38% statewide and 39% districtwide; science was 21%, versus 36% and 35%, respectively.
