Summary

Olita Elementary is a K-6 public school serving 425 students in the Lowell Joint School District in La Habra, maintaining a consistent 3-star rating with academic performance near state averages but below its own high-performing district.

When compared to nearby schools in its district, such as Macy Elementary and Meadow Green Elementary, Olita spends significantly more per student but has lower proficiency rates in core subjects. However, the school has a notable strength: its chronic absenteeism rate of 9.2% is the lowest among its district peers and represents a major improvement, suggesting effective programs to ensure students are in class and ready to learn.

The school's performance varies across different student groups and grade levels, with particular strengths in some areas and recent challenges in others, such as services for special education students. While schools in the Lowell Joint district generally perform well, Olita's profile is complex, showing both successful initiatives and opportunities to better align its higher level of resources with academic outcomes.

Open Quote I have 2 children at Olita Elementary School and they love it. The teachers are always available for questions and contact the parents if there are any issues. I've even had the principal contact me personally on specific issues, good or bad. She's even called me with concerns of who my children might be poorly influenced by.

The secretary and office assistant are excellent. They have contacted me for any issues or concerns that have arrived and are sympathetic to my children's needs. We've even found an excellent babysitter through the office staff. The parents are awesome too. The are great at communicating with the teachers, staff and other parents about events, concerns or ideas.

I can't wait until my younger 2 attend. Close Quote
