Summary

Macy Elementary is a K-6 public school serving 413 students in La Habra, California, operating as a solid, middle-performing school within the well-regarded Lowell Joint school district.

Academically, Macy outperforms California state averages in English and Math, and the school shows particular strength in effectively supporting specific student groups. It has also made impressive strides in improving student attendance, significantly reducing chronic absenteeism over the past few years. However, performance has been somewhat volatile year-to-year, with a recent dip in its statewide rating, and science scores are an area identified for growth. The school achieves these results with relatively efficient per-student spending compared to some neighboring schools.

When compared to nearby schools, Macy generally performs better than those in the La Habra City Elementary district, like Arbolita Elementary and Walnut Elementary. Within its own district, it sits in the middle tier, outperforming Olita Elementary but trailing higher-performing schools like Meadow Green Elementary. It lags behind top performers in the East Whittier City Elementary district, such as Murphy Ranch Elementary.

Open Quote I have been a Macy parent since 2001. With my last currently in the 5th grade. My two older children use to be in private school before Macy. I really was hesitant to make the switch but was not disappointed. The teachers really care about there students. PTA and parent involvement is awesome. We love our Macy family. Close Quote
