Summary:
Rosedale Union Elementary includes nine schools: seven elementary schools serving K–6 and two middle schools serving grades 7–8, with enrollments from 537 to 931. In 2025–2026, the unweighted school averages were above California’s results by 3 percentage points in English language arts (ELA), 4 in math, and 2 in science. But those averages hide substantial differences among schools: the highest-to-lowest gaps were 12 points in ELA, 23 in math, and 28 in science. The most important finding is that results vary markedly by school, especially in math and science.
Different schools lead in different subjects. Independence Elementary had the highest ELA result at 58%, while Rosedale-North Elementary was lowest at 46%. American Elementary led math at 51%; Freedom Middle had the lowest result at 28%. In science, Del Rio Elementary led at 55%, while Freedom was lowest at 27%. Del Rio also ranked second in math at 50% and third in ELA at 57%, making it a strong performer across subjects. Freedom’s ELA result was 48%, about 1 point below California’s 49%.
Group averages rose from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026: by 1 point in ELA, 2 in math, and 3 in science. However, the science advantage over California narrowed from 3 points to 2. School-level patterns differ: American improved in all three subjects, while Freedom’s ELA fell 6 points and its science fell 2, despite a 1-point math gain. SchoolDigger places Del Rio at the 74th percentile and Freedom at the 50th percentile statewide; over three years, Del Rio rose 6 percentile points while Freedom fell 22. The two middle schools have similar student-teacher ratios—21.0 at Rosedale Middle and 20.8 at Freedom—yet Rosedale Middle’s results were higher by 8 points in ELA, 10 in math, and 16 in science. Reported free/reduced lunch eligible rates ranged from 30% to 50% in sy 2024–2025; this is context, not an explanation for school results.
