Summary:
Centralia Elementary District includes eight elementary schools serving kindergarten through sixth grade, with 2025–2026 results that vary sharply from one school to another. Across the schools, the unweighted average was 55% proficient in English language arts (ELA), 55% in math and 47% in science, compared with state rates of 49%, 38% and 36%. The most important finding for families is the wide gap between schools: the highest and lowest results were separated by 60 points in ELA, 57 in math and 51 in science.
Los Coyotes Elementary led in all three subjects, with 89% proficient in ELA, 87% in math and 80% in science—about 39, 49 and 44 points above state rates. Buena Terra Elementary was second in each subject, at 73%, 79% and 65%, also above the state in all three. At the other end, Centralia Elementary had the lowest results: 29% in ELA, 31% in math and 28% in science. These were below state rates by about 20 points in ELA and 8 points in both math and science.
Recent changes were mixed: the eight-school ELA average fell by 1 point while the state edged up; the math average rose by 2 points, outpacing the state’s 1-point rise; and science increased by 1 point while the state gained 3. Individual schools also differed: Raymond Temple Elementary gained 14 points in science, while San Marino Elementary fell 16 points. SchoolDigger ranks Los Coyotes 31st of 5,804 schools, at the 99th percentile with five stars; it ranks Centralia 4,131st, at the 29th percentile with one star. The schools’ 2024–2025 free/reduced lunch eligible shares ranged from 38% at Los Coyotes to 96% at Danbrook Elementary; student–teacher ratios ranged from 23.6 to 27.0, and neither measure alone predicts a school’s results.
