Morristown Elementary School

Public Grades PK, KG-8
Summary

Morristown Elementary School is a public elementary school serving grades PK-8 in the rural town of Morristown, Arizona, with a student population of 147. While the school has a higher percentage of White students compared to the state average, it faces challenges in maintaining consistent academic performance and supporting its special education population.

Morristown Elementary's performance has fluctuated over the years, with its statewide ranking ranging from 266 out of 1,000 schools in 2021-2022 to 521 out of 1,245 schools in 2022-2023. The school's Hispanic students and students from low socioeconomic backgrounds perform relatively well, ranking in the top 30% and 25% respectively among Arizona elementary schools. However, the school's special education students perform poorly, ranking in the bottom 12% of Arizona elementary schools. Morristown Elementary's test scores are generally below the state averages, with the exception of 3rd and 4th grade English Language Arts and 3rd grade Mathematics, where the school outperforms the state.

Compared to nearby schools in the Dysart Unified District and Peoria Unified School District, Morristown Elementary's performance is generally lower, with higher rankings, test scores, and student demographics that are more representative of the state averages. The school's high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, over 70%, suggests that it serves a population with significant economic challenges, which may impact student performance and require additional resources and support.

Open Quote This is a little school with a big heart. Students are seen as individuals who have individual needs. The staff cares for these children in the way they would want their own children and grandchildren to be cared for while at school. Students receive a well-rounded curriculum with attention given to the arts, social studies, science, health and foreign language in addition to the core curriculum.
There is an award winning after school program offering sports, tutoring, vioin instruction, chess club and visual arts. This is a great place to go to school. Close Quote
