Summary

Sierra Vista Middle is a public school serving 709 students in grades 6-8 within the Baldwin Park Unified School District, and it stands out as a school on a steady upward path, now performing near the middle of all California middle schools.

The school shows clear strengths in mathematics, where it consistently leads other middle schools in its own district like Olive Middle and Charles D. Jones Middle, and has made a remarkable turnaround in student attendance, with chronic absenteeism now lower than both the district and state averages. It also demonstrates effective support for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, achieving better results with its resources than some similarly funded schools in the area, such as the BP STEM Academy.

While the school's English and math scores are below the state average, they are competitive within its local context. An area for growth is science, where proficiency lags. Compared to a higher-performing school like Las Palmas Middle in the neighboring Covina-Valley Unified district, Sierra Vista's trajectory suggests it is implementing successful strategies in key areas that are making a positive difference for its students.

Open Quote What a horrible school. The students there lack discipline and are some of the worst bullies ever. My daughter is constantly harassed by some of the female students and the parents are worse! They encourage this bad behavior and could care less if their kids hurt other kids. The staff attempts to help with no avail. My daughter's education is suffering and the actions the staff takes to help is minimal. Please be careful if you plan to enroll you student here.
