Summary

Forest Park Elementary is a public elementary school in Kenosha, Wisconsin, serving 326 students in grades PK-5 as part of the Kenosha School District. However, the school's academic performance has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Wisconsin elementary schools, with proficiency rates in English Language Arts and Mathematics well below the district and state averages.

Forest Park Elementary faces several challenges, including high chronic absenteeism rates ranging from 13.2% to 29.5% in recent years, significantly higher than the state average. Additionally, the school has a relatively high percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 40.49% to 51.46%, indicating a higher proportion of students from low-income families. Compared to nearby Whittier Elementary and Roosevelt Elementary, both part of the Kenosha School District, Forest Park Elementary performs significantly worse across various academic metrics.

Despite the school's relatively high per-student spending, ranging from $11,421 to $14,495 in recent years, the academic performance and other key metrics suggest that the school may not be effectively utilizing its resources to support student learning and achievement. The combination of low academic performance, high chronic absenteeism, and a high proportion of students from low-income families suggests that Forest Park Elementary may be facing significant challenges in providing a high-quality education to its students.

Open Quote This school was once considered one of the best. Families bought homes just for this school. However, within the last year or so the school has taken a nose dive. Students are not getting the education they use to. The school got rid of the Intervention program. Now your child can come home week after week with D's and F's. Special education is more of a cheerleading program. The focus is having the kids accept a child who cannot read instead of helping a child who can't read. Sadly the new princple is mean and nonapproachable to both kids and parents. Close Quote
