Stocker Elementary

Public Grades
Summary

Stocker Elementary is a public elementary school in Kenosha, Wisconsin, serving 311 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Kenosha School District, which is ranked 352 out of 428 districts in the state and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Stocker Elementary has had a fluctuating performance over the years, with its statewide ranking ranging from 525 to 745 out of over 1,000 Wisconsin elementary schools. Its student performance on the Forward Exam, Wisconsin's standardized assessment, is generally below the district and state averages across grade levels and subject areas. For example, in the 2023-2024 school year, the percentage of Stocker students proficient or better in English Language Arts ranged from 37.78% to 58.7%, compared to the district averages of 43.81% to 46.28% and the state averages of 52.07% to 53.75%. Stocker also struggles with its White and Special Education student populations, ranking in the bottom half of Wisconsin elementary schools in these subgroups, despite performing relatively well for Hispanic students.

Stocker Elementary's challenges extend beyond academic performance. The school has experienced a concerning increase in chronic absenteeism, rising from 8.4% in 2018-2019 to 32.7% in 2021-2022, significantly higher than the district and state averages. Additionally, Stocker has a high percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 51.27% to 58.2% over the past three school years, indicating a high level of economic disadvantage among the student population. While Stocker's per-student spending is higher than nearby schools, its performance lags behind many of its counterparts in the Kenosha School District, such as Whittier Elementary and Nash Elementary, which have higher student proficiency rates and better overall rankings.

Open Quote I have a special needs child (autism) and we just moved here in August because of a corporate move. So far I have seen and heard about, regarding my son, lots of bullying, just today my son came home telling my husband and I about a boy that has been making fun of him and calling him 'retarded', they actually got into a physical fight, I was not informed of this by any teacher at all even though it was seen by teachers and the 2 boys were told to apologize to each other. There have been several incidents since we have moved here, first by a girl now by a boy. This is a terrible school and it has a really rude and terrible principal. She had the nerve to be rude and condescending to myself and my husband over the incidents. Just look at the numbers listed on school digger! This school is listed as 716! We moved from Mason Ohio where my kids were at a #1 school in the whole country! NO! it was not worth the corporate move, DO NOT send your kids to Stocker elementary unless you LOVE lackluster teaching and LOTS of BULLYING! Close Quote

Open Quote My two granddaughters attend this school. I've attended many school functions and I find it to be a clean, safe and nurturing environment. The staff is approachable and caring. The parents are very involved. Close Quote
