Summary

Jemtegaard Middle School is a public school serving 408 students in grades 6-8 within the Washougal School District, and it stands out for its strong and steadily improving academic performance, especially given that nearly half of its students come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

The school is on a clear upward trajectory, rising to become a 4-star school ranked in the top 25% of Washington middle schools, and it excels at supporting all students. It achieves proficiency rates in English and Science that are well above the state average, and it earns particularly high marks for its effectiveness with students from low-income families and other key groups. This performance is notable when compared to other area schools with similar student demographics, such as Frontier Middle School and Pacific Middle School in the Evergreen School District (Clark), where Jemtegaard's proficiency scores are significantly higher.

While schools in the more affluent Camas School District like Skyridge Middle School have higher overall scores, Jemtegaard delivers impressive results relative to its resources and student population. Parents can be confident that Jemtegaard is a school where students are consistently supported to succeed and where the school's focus on improvement is delivering real results.

Open Quote *Not a good school* would be an upgrade! This is a BAD school. I volunteered there for a few months. I watched but never said much. They have very poor leadership from the principle and many (not all) of the staff are extremely difficult to work with. They lack some basic supplies. Poor testing scores. They don't return calls or emails. They lie. Big times slackers when it comes to grading and entering it into Skyward. No respect for their co-workers the children or parents. They are bullies, to each other, kids and parents. They use fear tactics. Over all its a "bad vibe" as soon as you walk threw the front doors. If I could give them a negitive -5 stars I would.
