Summary

Forest Park High is a large public high school in Woodbridge, Virginia, serving 2,343 students in grades 9–12 as part of Prince William County Public Schools, a district ranked 46th out of 131 in Virginia. For the 2025–2026 school year, the school ranked 144th out of 331 Virginia high schools — 56th percentile, 3-star rating — placing it comfortably in the upper half of the state. Among nearby schools, it ranks above Osbourn Park High, Woodbridge High, C.D. Hylton High, Gar-Field High, Freedom High, and Osbourn High, while landing roughly on par with Potomac High and South County High. It trails Charles J. Colgan Senior High (ranked 28th) and North Stafford High (84th). About 42.6% of Forest Park students qualify for free/reduced lunch — a lower rate than most Prince William County neighbors, though higher than Colgan (28.7%) and South County (23.1%).

Forest Park's graduation rate is a clear strength: 95.9%, above both the district (94.2%) and state (92.3%) averages, with a dropout rate of just 2.9%. The school also shines in social studies — 84.6% of 12th graders were proficient in Virginia & U.S. History, compared to 51.1% districtwide — and its World History I scores at 9th and 10th grades far exceeded district averages. Eleventh graders outperformed the state in English Reading, Writing, Algebra I, Biology, and Earth Science in 2025–2026. Outcomes for African American students are a consistently strong point, with statewide subgroup rankings in the 83rd–87th percentile over the past three years.

A few concerns are worth noting. Tenth-grade Chemistry proficiency was just 4.55% in 2024–2025, dramatically below the 48.7% state average. Chronic absenteeism has improved from 23.3% in 2021–2022 to 15.3%, but still sits above district (13.8%) and state (14.8%) averages. Twelfth-grade English Reading (47.4%) and Writing (55.0%) also fell well below state averages in 2025–2026, though they were above state levels the prior year — possibly a cohort-specific blip. Overall, Forest Park is a stable, mid-tier school that has remained in the 42nd–65th percentile range for a decade. Its consistent results with per-pupil spending of about $10,131 — less than several lower-performing neighbors — make it a solid option.

Open Quote I'm a military kid with 11 moves, and four high schools under my belt. Forest Park is very clean, and I didn't see a single fight there this whole year. I will admit that some of the rules are a little bit over the top, but I would rather have rules that are a little bit too much, than gang activity, and drug use in the school. FP isn't my favorite school, but it is definitely the best public school I've been to. Only DoDDs schools can beat it. Close Quote
