Summary

West Haven School is a public elementary school in West Haven, Utah, serving 488 students in kindergarten through sixth grade as part of Weber District. The school is near several other elementary schools, including Country View School, Kanesville School, Midland School, Freedom School, and Haven Bay Elementary. Its 2025–2026 statewide ranking was 414th of 563 Utah elementary schools, placing it at the 26th percentile and earning a one-star SchoolDigger rating. Locally, however, it ranked fourth among 10 nearby Weber District schools with current rankings.

Academic results are uneven by grade. Sixth grade is a clear strength: 49.2% of students were proficient in English language arts, above both district and state results, while sixth-grade science reached 56.2%, slightly above the district. Fifth-grade mathematics was also encouraging at 46.9%, above both the district and state. The main concerns are earlier grades, especially third-grade ELA at 21.6% and third-grade math at 20.5%, both far below state results. Nearby Haven Bay Elementary and Country View School are important higher-performing local benchmarks, ranking at the 72nd and 63rd percentiles, respectively. Kanesville School ranked just above West Haven at the 33rd percentile, while Freedom School and Midland School ranked below it.

There are signs of progress. West Haven’s statewide percentile rose from the mid-teens in 2021–2023 to 26th percentile in 2025–2026, and chronic absenteeism declined from 36.1% to 25.7% between 2022–2023 and 2024–2025. Even so, absenteeism remains above the district’s 21.8% and Utah’s 23.8%. The 21.2-to-1 student-teacher ratio is typical for the local comparison group, so it does not clearly distinguish the school. West Haven also outperformed nearby Bridge Elementary School in nearly every tested subject and grade. The clearest priorities are strengthening early literacy and mathematics, addressing fourth-grade performance, and continuing attendance improvements while building on stronger fifth- and sixth-grade results.
