Summary

Canyon View High is a public school serving grades 9–12 in Cedar City, Utah, with 1,021 students and a location in Iron District. The school ranks 76th of 139 Utah schools for 2025–2026, placing it in the 45th percentile with two stars. Its ranking has varied considerably, including a drop to the 22nd percentile in 2021–2022, a recovery to the 53rd percentile in 2024–2025, and a recent decline. Even so, its strong graduation and attendance results add important context to the current ranking.

Graduation is one of Canyon View’s clearest strengths: 97.7% of students graduated in 2024–2025, matching Cedar City High and exceeding the district rate of 93.3% and Utah’s 89.8%. Chronic absenteeism also improved from 19.3% in 2021–2022 to 13.5% in 2024–2025, below the district and state rates and better than Cedar City High’s 17.6%. However, Parowan High, Launch High, and Success SUU reported lower absenteeism. Canyon View’s student-teacher ratio also improved substantially to 17.2, close to Parowan High’s 16.7 and better than Cedar City High’s 20.3.

Academic performance is uneven. In 2025–2026, 10th-grade mathematics and science were positive areas: proficiency was 33.3% in math and 48.0% in science, both above district and state results. The main concern is 9th grade, especially ELA at 32.0% and math at 31.3%, both below district and state averages. Launch High and Parowan High generally posted stronger test results, while Canyon View exceeded Cedar City High in 10th-grade math and science. The school also ranked in the 64th percentile for economically disadvantaged students, above its overall ranking. Overall, Canyon View offers an especially strong likelihood of graduation and improving student support, but families should watch for continued progress in 9th-grade literacy and mathematics.
