Utah Military Academy in Riverdale serves 595 students in grades 6–12 and is located near a mix of large traditional high schools, specialized STEM programs, and smaller charter and innovation schools. Its latest statewide ranking was 105th of 139 schools, in the 24th percentile—a substantial improvement from 123rd of 131 schools and the 6th percentile in 2021–2022. However, its overall performance remains below Clearfield High, Weber Innovation High School, and Leadership Academy of Utah, while exceeding some nearby traditional schools such as Ogden High, Bonneville High, and Roy High.
Academically, English and science show encouraging high school gains, but mathematics is the clearest weakness. In 2025–2026, 41.8% of ninth graders and 44.9% of 10th graders were proficient in English language arts, somewhat below state averages. Ninth-grade science proficiency reached 45.6%, also near the state average, after rising from 25.8% three years earlier. By contrast, mathematics proficiency was only 14.0% in seventh grade, 12.5% in eighth grade, 20.3% in ninth grade, and 19.7% in 10th grade. Completion outcomes are more positive than test scores: the latest available school graduation rate was 90.7% in 2023–2024, above the state rate, while the dropout rate was 6.7%, below the state rate. The most serious concern is attendance: 47.2% of students were chronically absent in 2024–2025, nearly twice the statewide rate and higher than most nearby comparison schools. The school’s Hispanic-student subgroup ranked in the 64th percentile statewide, an encouraging result, while White students ranked in the 28th percentile and low-income students in the 33rd percentile. Reducing chronic absenteeism and strengthening mathematics, especially in grades 7–10, appear to be the most important priorities.
