American Preparatory Academy–Draper #3 is a public school in Draper, Utah, serving 719 students in grades 7–12. It is considerably smaller than nearby comprehensive high schools, including Corner Canyon High, Bingham High, Riverton High, and Alta High. The school is part of the American Preparatory Academy district, which ranks around the middle of Utah districts, but Draper #3 itself has recently been one of the state’s strongest schools.

Draper #3 ranked 11th out of 139 Utah schools in 2025–26, earning the 92nd percentile and five stars. It has placed in the statewide top 15 in three of the last four reported years, improving substantially from 58th in 2021–22. Test results were above state and district averages in every reported subject and grade. Science is a standout: proficiency reached 76.3% in grade 7 and 84.4% in grade 8, compared with 47.7% and 50.8% statewide. In high school, 81.0% of 10th graders were proficient in English language arts, compared with 48.2% statewide. The school also led nearby comparison schools in 10th-grade English language arts and science, although its 10th-grade math result of 45.3% was slightly below Corner Canyon High.

Other indicators are encouraging for families: the 2024–25 graduation rate was 94.1%, above Utah’s 89.8%, and chronic absenteeism was just 3.5%, far below the statewide 23.8%. Attendance has improved steadily as the school’s ranking has risen. Math is the clearest area to monitor because grade 8 and grade 9 results are less dominant than the school’s English language arts and science scores. The student-teacher ratio increased from 17.1 to 21.4, so staffing and class-size trends are also worth watching. Overall, Draper #3 combines strong academics, high graduation, and unusually good attendance while competing effectively with much larger schools in the Draper and south Salt Lake County area.
