Duchesne District includes eight elementary schools serving 2,509 students across a mix of K–5 and PK–6 campuses, from small rural schools such as Tabiona School and Myton School to larger Roosevelt-area schools such as Kings Peak School, East School, and Centennial School. Overall, school performance varies considerably within the district, which ranks in the 27th percentile statewide.
Altamont School is the clear academic leader. It reached the 75th percentile in 2025–2026, improved steadily over three years, and exceeded district proficiency rates in every exact subject-grade comparison reported. It also had the district’s lowest chronic absenteeism rate, at 29.4%. Kings Peak School was the strongest of the larger schools after Altamont, with solid English language arts results and notable Grade 3 math and Grade 5 science performance. Duchesne School showed improvement, particularly in Grade 6 math and science, but remained inconsistent and had high absenteeism. Tabiona School had the second-lowest absenteeism and smallest student-teacher ratio, although many of its test results are reported as ranges.
