Summary

Kings Peak School is a public elementary school in Roosevelt, Utah, serving 479 students in grades K–5. It is one of the larger schools in the local area and belongs to the Duchesne District, which ranks below the statewide midpoint. Statewide, Kings Peak ranks in the 39th percentile, with a two-star rating. While that indicates moderate performance overall, the school compares favorably with its two closest Roosevelt-area neighbors, East School and Centennial School, which rank in the 21st and 18th percentiles.

Academic results are mixed by grade and subject. In 2025–26, Kings Peak’s average reported proficiency was approximately 43.4% in English Language Arts, 41.5% in mathematics, and 50.2% in science. The clearest strengths were 3rd-grade mathematics, at 51.8%, slightly above the state result, and 5th-grade science, at 60.0%, above both the district and state. The most significant weakness was 5th-grade mathematics, at 31.4%, compared with 37.5% districtwide and 45.0% statewide. Kings Peak also trailed the higher-performing same-district Altamont School, especially in 4th- and 5th-grade mathematics and 4th-grade science.

Attendance is an important issue to monitor. Chronic absenteeism improved from 46.0% in 2023–24 to 35.4% in 2024–25, a meaningful decline, but it remained above the Duchesne District rate of 31.0% and the Utah rate of 23.8%. Kings Peak’s attendance was still better than East School and Centennial School. Overall, the school appears to be recovering from a low point in its ranking, but continued attention to attendance, 5th-grade mathematics, 4th-grade science, and consistency across grades will be important for further improvement.
