Summary

Compass Rose Destiny in Manor, TX, is an alternative school serving 730 students in grades K-9, part of the Compass Rose Public Schools district, which ranks in the 18th percentile statewide.

This school stands out for its exceptional ability to keep students enrolled, boasting a 0.0% dropout rate for the 2023-2024 school year—a stark contrast to its district's 6.0% rate. Academically, Compass Rose Destiny consistently outperforms its own district average in core subjects like Reading and Math for grades 3-7, making it a relative bright spot within a struggling system. However, its scores remain below state averages, and the school faces significant challenges in STEM subjects. For instance, Algebra I proficiency was just 7.87% in 2024-2025, far below the state average of 47.01%. In contrast, nearby alternative schools like Chaparral Star Academy and Valor North Austin achieve dramatically higher results, with 90%+ proficiency in most subjects. Compass Rose Destiny also has a higher student-teacher ratio (17.2:1) compared to peers like Rosedale (6.4:1) and International High School (9.9:1), which may impact academic performance.

Encouragingly, the school shows a clear upward trend in Reading proficiency, with 8th Grade Reading improving from 22.92% in 2023-2024 to 60% in 2025-2026. A notable anomaly is a 57.89% proficiency rate in Biology for 2025-2026, the only subject approaching the state average of 70.51%. With a moderate economic disadvantage rate of 49.45%, Compass Rose Destiny serves a diverse student body. Its primary focus should be on replicating its literacy success to strengthen Math and Science instruction, addressing the severe Algebra I bottleneck that remains a critical barrier to high school readiness.

Open Quote If your family cherishes the importance of education, this school is a heartbreaking letdown for your children. Compass Rose Destiny claims to champion school choice as a charter school, but in reality, it deliberately excludes parents from their children's educational journey. There's an absence of meaningful homework or dedicated studying unless your child is on the verge of falling behind.

Your children won't just lag behind the standard they'll trail in skills and overall personal growth. The teachers seem to be present solely for their meager wages, resembling glorified babysitters rather than passionate educators. The staff tiptoe on eggshells, their collective stress palpable. Their indifference towards the well-being of the children and their families, unless they share the same last name, is utterly disheartening.

To make matters worse, bullying goes unchecked, and shockingly, some teachers actively contribute to tormenting your children. It's a despicable situation that paints a grim picture of the school environment.

Regrettably, Manor ISD as a whole seems to be engulfed in a sea of inadequacies. Being situated in a low-income town, it attracts more residents each day. Despite any financial injections, the school system remains far from redemption.

For anyone considering a move, it's a stark choice: either steer clear of this town or be prepared to make the sacrifice of driving out of town to provide your children with a proper and immersive education, because what this school offers is far from sufficient. Close Quote
