Summary

Ringgold Elementary School is a PK–5 public school in Clarksville, TN, serving 829 students as part of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools district. The school has experienced a steady decline over the past seven years, falling from a 3-star rating at the 62nd percentile statewide in 2018-19 to its current 1-star rating at the 19th percentile for 2025-26.

Academically, Ringgold trails both district and state averages by wide margins. Just 27.1% of students are proficient in math (versus 42.1% districtwide), 29.6% in ELA (versus 42.3%), and 32.1% in science (versus 53.5%). The science gap is especially large at 21 points. Grade-level data shows a particularly sharp drop in 4th-grade ELA, where only 23.6% of students are proficient — nearly 28 points below the district average. Meanwhile, nearby schools in the same district perform considerably better: West Creek Elementary sits at the 62nd percentile, Barkers Mill Elementary at the 65th, and Hazelwood Elementary at the 57th. Ringgold outranks only Byrns Darden Elementary (9th percentile) and Minglewood Elementary (21st percentile) among its immediate neighbors.

Beyond academics, Ringgold's chronic absenteeism rate of 16.1% is above the district average of 15.1% and higher than most nearby schools. Most concerning, however, is the school's special education support: Ringgold ranks in the 1st percentile statewide for serving special education students — a dramatic drop from the 49th percentile in 2023-24. This comes despite above-average spending of $13,274 per student, more than what West Creek, Pisgah Elementary, or Hazelwood spend. For parents considering Ringgold, the data suggest a school with persistent structural challenges, particularly for upper-elementary students and those receiving special education services.

Open Quote My child has bee isolated in the back of the classroom facing the WALL since the start of this year. The teachers refuse to put him with the rest of the class because they say he is distracting to other students (he is a 10 yr old boy). I have asked he be placed in the front room of the class, they refuse. Had a parent/teacher/councelor meeting where I was told I would receive regular emails regarding how his day went, etc. As of almost 3 months later, I've yet to receive a single one. He is in RTI, my son brought home a letter stating he was making progress and RTI was to be discontinued, a week later, I get a letter in the mail informing me of his possible retention because his grades and skills have not improved! I'm not alleging my son is an angel but he's clearly struggling and the teachers do not know how to deal, their solution is to just NOT deal with him. As a result of his isolation, he is having anxiety and depression. He has no motivation and doesn't even feel like a person because he's not being treated as such. Since he's attended this school (2nd year) I have noticed a marked decline in his overall self-esteem. Close Quote
