Fayetteville-Perry Middle School is a small rural school serving 163 students in grades 6–8 at 521 S Apple St in Fayetteville, Ohio, part of the Fayetteville-Perry Local district. In 2025-26 it ranked 358th of 1,046 Ohio middle schools (66th percentile, 3 stars) — well above its own district's 397th-of-773 standing, and a 10-point percentile rebound from the previous year. Nearly every student (98.16%) is economically disadvantaged, roughly double the rate of the next-closest nearby school and about four times that of Milford Middle School or Little Miami Middle School.

The middle grades are where this school shines. Sixth-grade math (73.8%) and seventh-grade math (72.2%) run about 18 and 24 points above the state average, and Math 7 is the best of ten nearby schools. ELA 7 (70.4%) and Algebra I (76.5% vs. 61.6% statewide) are also strong. Low-income students ranked in the 72nd percentile (4 stars), up from the 54th three years earlier. The school has also cut its student–teacher ratio from 19.8 to 16.3 since 2022-23 and kept chronic absenteeism at 14.6% — fourth-lowest of eleven area schools and far below Hillsboro Middle School (31.3%) and Clermont Northeastern Middle School (25.0%).

Grade 8 is the weak spot: science (59.3%) ranks last of eleven comparison schools and ELA 8 is second-to-last. A rough 2024-25 cohort has since recovered (Math 8 rose from 30.6% to 54.1%). One caution: with only about 54 students per grade, year-to-year swings of 10–20 points often reflect small numbers rather than real change. Also worth watching — chronic absenteeism has now run above the district's rate for three straight years.

I am raising a grandson that attends Fayetteville Schools. He just graduated to the middle school. My experience with the elementary was phenomenal. The previous principal was wonderful as well as the present principal who started in 2008. We did have a grand daughter from 2004 till 2007 and the experience was the same.
