Summary

Greenville Senior High School is the only public high school in the Greenville City district, serving grades 9–12 to 776 students in Greenville, Ohio, a town of about 12,700 in Darke County. It is by far the largest school among its nearby peers — roughly twice the size of most neighbors — and about half its students (51.2%) qualified for free or reduced-price lunch in 2024–25.

Academically, the picture is mixed but improving over the long term. The school ranked at the 35th percentile statewide in 2025–26, a sharp drop from the 55th percentile two years earlier, though it remains well above its 27th-percentile mark in 2020–21. American History has beaten the state every year on record, Algebra I rose to 64.4% (above the state for the first time since 2022–23), and the graduation rate climbed from 86.6% to 97.3% in two years — now close to Russia High School and Versailles High School (both near 98–100%). Gifted students also score very well, at the 84th percentile. The clearest academic weakness is Geometry, where proficiency fell to 30.3% — the lowest among the eleven schools compared, including Bradford High School.

Attendance is the most serious concern: 26.9% of students are chronically absent, the highest of any school in the group and roughly four times the rate at Newton High School, which serves a similar poverty level. Greenville also spends the least per student ($8,266) of any school compared, about $2,300 below the next-lowest spender — yet it produces somewhat better results than Bradford, which spends 35% more.
