Kilgour is stronger in 3rd, 4th and 6th grade math and in most ELA grades, but Hyde Park School clearly leads in exactly the areas where Kilgour slipped this year: 5th grade math (75.6% vs 56.5%) and 5th grade science (90.3% vs 79.2%). Mariemont Elementary School, in Mariemont City — Ohio's 6th-ranked district — posts 92.0% math and 94.1% ELA, only modestly above Kilgour despite smaller classes and fewer low-income students. Elsewhere, results range widely: John P. Parker School (25th percentile, 42.7% chronic absenteeism) and T.C.P. World Academy (27th) sit far below the Norwood City schools, which cluster in a tight 40th–45th percentile band.

A few things are worth watching. Kilgour's 2025–26 dip is narrow but real: 5th grade math fell to 56.5% proficiency — the only grade and subject below the state average (59.1%) — after 90.0% the year before, and 5th grade science softened. Attendance has drifted up slightly each year, from 6.3% to 7.8% chronic absenteeism, though still excellent. The low-income subgroup fell from the 91st to the 72nd percentile, and the share of low-income students has risen from 11.8% to 21.3% in two years — while grades 3, 4 and 6 continued to post 90%-plus proficiency.
