Mariemont City

Mariemont City is a small, high-performing Ohio district of four schools serving about 1,556 students in a clean K–6, 7–8, 9–12 configuration, and every school carries the same banner: 6th of 773 Ohio districts, 99th percentile, 5 stars. There is no alternative school here, and no test scores in this data set are suppressed. One caution for parents: per-student spending figures date to 2018–19, roughly seven years stale, and the high school's free/reduced lunch percentage is not reported.

Within that overall excellence, the four schools have distinct profiles. Terrace Park Elementary School is the district's cleanest profile, with the lowest chronic absenteeism (3.6%) and the lowest free/reduced lunch share (5.44%), and it placed 13th of 1,560 in 2025–26 after ranking 5th in the state the prior year. Mariemont Junior High School holds the strongest statewide placement at 4th of 1,046, with unbroken improvement (19 → 11 → 4) and 100% on Algebra I and Geometry in both years reported. Mariemont High School ranks 6th of 795 with a 98.1% graduation rate. Mariemont Elementary School is the largest at 514 students — 55% larger than Terrace Park — and still sits at the 97th percentile despite the highest reported poverty indicator (15.56%).

Two patterns stand out. Absenteeism climbs steadily with grade span: 3.6% → 5.9% → 9.7% → 13.3%, with the high school nearly four times Terrace Park and the only school above the district rate of 8.2%. Meanwhile, staffing ratios and spending do not track outcomes at all — the Junior High has the lowest student-teacher ratio and the lowest spending yet the best rank. On academics, watch the two elementaries: 5th grade Science diverged by 16 points (Terrace Park 96.4%, Mariemont Elementary 80.4%, which fell 10.2 points year over year), and Terrace Park's 6th grade ELA slipped 7.4 points — even as the Junior High gained 7.4 points in 7th grade Math and 5.8 in 7th grade ELA.
