About the Smarter Balanced Assessments: The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium is a state-led consortium working to develop and implement next-generation assessments that accurately measure student progress toward college- and career-readiness. The Smarter Balanced Assessment will replace the NECAP assessment in mathematics and English language arts this spring.

The work of the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium is guided by the belief that a high-quality assessment system can provide information and tools for teachers and schools to improve instruction and help students succeed – regardless of disability, language or subgroup. The development of the assessment has and will continue to involve experienced educators, researchers, state and local policymakers and community groups working together in a transparent and consensus-driven process.

Open Quote My son goes to Strong Foundations and he is excelling there. My son's teacher, Mr Symons, is an extraordinary teacher who keeps the kids engaged with his humour and wit. Learning is fun and that is what helps the kids retain the information they learn. I believe the other teachers there share with Mr. Symons a love for teaching. My son doesn't walk out of school. He skips. On our way home, he tells me enthusiastically about his day and all that he has learned. I am very happy with my child's education. From administration to teachers to students and their parents, it's been a great experience that puts a smile on my son's face every morning when he arrives and every afternoon when he leaves. About Student-Teacher Ratio
Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
