Johnson Street Global Studies, just over a mile away, ranks at the 47th percentile, with 3rd grade math proficiency more than double Northwood's (68.9% vs. 32.2%). Shadybrook Elementary, under two miles away, ranks at the 52nd percentile despite nearly identical poverty rates. One striking difference is attendance: 35.1% of Northwood students are chronically absent — roughly one in three — compared with 21.4% at Shadybrook and just 11.0% at Hasty Elementary in Davidson County Schools. Since Northwood's 5th grade science scores reached 68.2% proficiency as recently as 2024-2025, the school has proven it can achieve strong results.
