Welcome Elementary is a PK-5 school in Lexington, NC, that enrolls 638 students as part of Davidson County Schools. It currently ranks 867th out of 1,492 North Carolina elementary schools — the 42nd percentile — putting it in the lower-middle range statewide and fifth among six nearby Davidson County elementary schools. The school performed better a few years ago, reaching the 55th percentile in 2021-22, but has not returned to that level. Nearly all students (99.5%) qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, making this one of the highest-poverty elementary schools in the area.

The school's most distinctive academic pattern is in math. It posts strong proficiency in 3rd-grade math (73.5%) and 4th-grade math (70.3%), with the 4th-grade rate the highest of any school in its local comparison group — topping even lower-poverty schools like Northwest Elementary and Midway Elementary. Overall, Welcome Elementary is a high-poverty school with real pockets of strength in early-grade math; its biggest opportunities are sustaining those gains through 5th grade, lifting reading in every grade, improving science outcomes, and strengthening support for English learners.
