Rush City Secondary is a grades 7–12 school serving 391 students in Rush City, MN, a small community in east-central Minnesota, and is part of the Rush City Public School District. In 2025–2026, the school ranked 102 of 473 Minnesota schools (78th percentile, 4 stars), while the district ranked 181 of 458 (60th percentile, 3 stars), a sign that the secondary school is a relative strength within the district. Rankings have been steady since 2021–2022, staying between the 76th and 83rd percentiles with 4 stars; 2020–2021 was the clear outlier at the 37th percentile.

Academically, science is a clear strength. All-grades science proficiency was 30.8% in 2025–2026 — above the state's 25.5% and above Braham Area Secondary (26.3%), Pine City Secondary (15.2%), and North Branch Area High School (22.4%). Subgroup effectiveness is uneven: the school ranks much higher for female students (82nd percentile) than for male students (56th percentile), while its special education ranking improved dramatically to the 69th percentile by 2022–2023. Alternative nearby programs such as Norse Area Learning Center and Pine City Area Learning Center serve different student populations and should not be treated as direct peer schools.
