C.E. Jacobson Elementary is a PK–6 public school in Rush City, Minnesota, serving 414 students as the elementary campus of the Rush City Public School District in a small town about an hour north of the Twin Cities.

On the 2025–26 state rankings, the school placed 516th of 869 schools — the 41st percentile, or two stars — while its own district ranks in the 60th percentile with three stars. In plain terms, this building is performing below the district it belongs to. Math (42.2%) and reading (46.8%) land close to the state averages of 44.9% and 48.6%, but science is a clear weak spot: 14.5% of fifth graders were proficient, against 25.5% statewide and the lowest figure of any nearby reporting school. Science has fallen steeply over four years, from about 40% to 14.5%. Parents of older students should note a striking pattern: third graders score above the state in both math and reading, while fifth and sixth graders fall 10 to 14 points below it.

Braham Elementary, ten miles away, is almost the same size and has similar demographics, yet outperforms this school by 16.7 points in math and 5.6 in reading — and the gap has been widening. Pine City Elementary performs at a similar level. One notable strength: with 8.9 students per teacher, C.E.
