Summary

Geist Elementary School is a PK–4 school serving 608 students in Fishers, Indiana (Hamilton County), part of the Hamilton Southeastern Schools district. It is one of Indiana's strongest elementary schools: ranked 49th of 1,015 statewide (95th percentile) in 2025–26, rated five stars every year on record, and never falling below the 94th percentile across a decade of rankings.

Attendance is the standout. Geist's chronic absenteeism rate of 3.8% is roughly half its district's 7.3% and under a quarter of the state's 16.7%, and it has held near 4% for five years — despite a higher low-income share (14.8% free/reduced lunch) than nearby Thorpe Creek Elementary or Southeastern Elementary School. Only Southeastern, at 2.7%, is lower. Test scores beat district averages in all three subjects: 69.96% in English language arts (district 66.43%), 75.97% in math (68.07%), and 65.33% in science (64.27%). The weak spots are narrow but real. Third-grade ELA is elite at 76.69%, but it drops to 64.0% by fourth grade — a 12.7-point decline, the largest among same-district peers and the only Geist metric below the district average. Science has slid from 69.8% to 65.33%, shrinking its district lead from 10.8 points to 1.1. The rank drift from the 98th to the 95th percentile reflects peers improving faster rather than Geist declining. Thorpe Creek Elementary, nearly identical in size and structure, is now ranked 20th statewide and leads in all three subjects, while Southeastern Elementary School leads in ELA and math.
