As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This is the worst school district my children have ever attended! Over crowded, zero discipline, and ridiculous common core! Close Quote

Open Quote Who wrote these other reviews?! As an LC grad and a parent, I feel qualified to say that LC is an awful school. It is grossly overcrowded to a degree that makes it dangerous. Classes are large, but more importantly many teachers are just disinterested and do a poor job. If you don't mind teachers swearing at your kids or coming to school in bathrobes and high (yes, it happened..google it!)then LC is a great choice. The education is mediocre at best and the only plus I can say that you get from an LC education is that you do acquire some street smarts since you are exposed to drugs, gangs, skinheads, vicious fights, etc. etc. etc. on a daily basis.
Not to mention the administration which is full of complete dingbats who like to spend excessively and staff assistants to their assistants to their assistants. But hey, the building will be new and pretty soon. So, send your kids here and they can be poorly educated in a fancy multi million dollar metropolis! Close Quote

Open Quote Lake Central High School is among the best high schools in Northwest Indiana and top 10% in the entire state. The whole district is strong academically and that is in large part due to the great staff and administration. I get the feeling that they really care about the students' wellbeing, as does the community as a whole which really supports the district. The school is strong right now, but the future looks even brighter as a brand new beautiful high school is going to be built and planned to be done in early 2015, which is awesome! So excited that this school and district are going to get even better! Way to go LC! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
