Highland High School is a public high school in Highland, Indiana, serving grades 9–12 and enrolling 971 students as part of the School Town of Highland, a district that ranks 130th of 374 Indiana districts. The school itself ranked 209th of 415 Indiana high schools in 2025–26 (50th percentile, 3 stars), placing it near the state median — down from the 64th–65th percentile in 2023–24 and 2024–25. Earlier years saw occasional 4-star results, so this northwest Indiana school in the Hammond–Gary area has slipped from the upper-middle tier into the middle tier.

Graduation and attendance are Highland's clearest strengths. Its 94.8% graduation rate (2024–25) is well above the state's 89.7% and far above Hammond Central High School (80.4%), Morton Senior High School (76.0%), and West Side Leadership Academy (58.6%). Chronic absenteeism of 15.3% is lower than the state's 16.7% and better than Lake Central High School (24.3%), Hammond Central (35.8%), Morton Senior (32.5%), and West Side (75.3%) — though Munster High School is clearly better at 8.8%. Highland's absenteeism is, however, higher than its own district average of 11.7%.

In 2025–26, Highland's SAT ERW proficiency was 50.4% (state: 51.9%) and SAT Math was 23.79% (state: 25.6%); ILEARN Biology was 29.74%, with no state comparison for that year. Those results trail Munster (ERW 77.06%, Math 48.32%) and Lake Central (66.0% and 46.27%) by wide margins, but far exceed Hammond Central, Morton Senior, and West Side. The recent rank slide was driven mainly by ERW (59.45% to 50.4%) and Biology, while Math improved slightly (21.2% to 23.79%). Subgroup results are uneven: special education students rank at the 77th percentile (4 stars), while low-income students fell to the 37th percentile (2 stars) from the 80th.
