Summary:
Moline, Illinois, has 12 schools—nine elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school—serving students from elementary through high school in Moline-Coal Valley CUSD 40. In 2025–2026, the elementary schools averaged 39% proficient in IAR English language arts (ELA), compared with 56% statewide, and 35% in math, compared with 40% statewide. The most important takeaway is that elementary results differ sharply from school to school: ELA ranged from 14% to 61%, and math from 14% to 54%.
Hamilton Elementary led elementary ELA at 61%, 5 percentage points above the state, and scored 51% in math, 11 points above the state. Jane Addams Elementary led in math at 54%, 15 points above the state; its ELA result was 56%, close to the state’s 56%. At the other end, Lincoln-Irving Elementary scored 14% in ELA and 14% in math—42 and 26 points below the state, respectively. Among middle schools, Woodrow Wilson scored higher than John Deere by 10 points in ELA and 6 in math. Moline Senior High’s 11th-grade ACT results were below state levels in all three subjects, including science by 9 points.
Results improved on average from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, but not at every school: elementary averages rose 3 points in ELA and 2 in math, while middle-school averages rose 6 points in ELA and 2 in math. Gains varied—Roosevelt Elementary’s ELA score rose 9 points, while Logan Elementary’s fell 8. SchoolDigger’s percentile rankings also shifted: Moline Senior High moved from 44 to 31, and John Deere from 30 to 10, between 2023–2024 and 2025–2026. As context, 2024–2025 free/reduced lunch eligible rates were 46% at Jane Addams, 60% at Hamilton and 88% at Lincoln-Irving; these figures describe student populations, not why results differ.
