Open Quote What a horrible experience. I don't know of it's just this year but I'm so disappointed. Some teachers are just waiting to retire, seem to have OCD that's pushed on the students. There's no "happy, healthy" education environment. My son has been slapped on his necks, called the N word, pushed, phone taken by a student the the kid ran with it like it was funny, today a student was upset about something with a grade and I guess my son smirked so the student said I'm going to kick your a,once in the Cafe the student took my sons lunch twice, then once in line the student pushed my son, my son pushed back and the bully fell on a young lady. My son was given the same punishment as the student that bullied him. No one stopped the boy from pushing my son. Defending yourself when am adult doesn't isn't a punishable thing. One teacher harassed my son about standing for the pledge which isn't her business. All these personal preferences and judegments in a work place are dysfunctional and toxic to student growth. I had high hopes. I felt my son would thrive. We donate, we are active parents, my son takes high achievers/accelerated classes, he plays sports and this is the heartbreaking experience he is given in 3 months time. 3 months of this can make a child resent the formal educational system. There's no "go tell a teacher" when teachers are there and do nothing. We LOVE all but 1 teacher but she's been in the same job, same school for decades. It's never good when staff have been at the school longer than all the administration. They become know it alls and not unaware of the damage they cause students. I was warned. I didn't listen. Some students have great experiences I'm sure, just not mine. Enter at your own risk. Talk to your child because some kids aren't telling their parents what's going on in school. I only put 3 because some of the teachers are great Math, ELA, Social studies, Band is amazing !! The bullying and fights are just too much to be healthy for anyone. Close Quote

Open Quote I have seen my child blossom throughout their matriculation at Druid Hills Middle - academically and socially. The teachers rally around the students and the idea of critical thinking, plus learning to build a foundation of success. Bravo! Close Quote

Open Quote This school was enough to make me move straight back to Gwinnett County. Disorganized. Thanks for letting me know parent teacher conferences are the day before they happen. Do you expect us not to have jobs? My child saw more fights in one year at this school than all of her years in Gwinnett combined. I feel as if I have done a disservice to my child and her education. I just am hoping that she is not too far behind at the beginning of this school year now that she is returning to a place that actually cares....... Close Quote

Open Quote I would not recommend for any parent to send their child to this school. The majority of the problems in this school are fights and in-class behavior. I was in a high achievers class and it was horrible. Everyday there would be a problem with students shouting or talking back to the teacher. The teacher would have to spend the rest of the time in class to quiet down the class, and it really bothered me because I could not even concentrate. Although the students behavior is bad, the teachers are all very helpful and they have a great tutorial program. Sorry for the poor rating. Close Quote

Open Quote I’m glad that I sent my child to this school. The school and teachers are very good about promoting IB values with an excellent program that stresses: being principled, open-minded, inquirers, knowledgeable etc. My son has required a good deal of attention from the school and his teachers – mostly because of his organizational problems. Teachers, counselors, and administrators have been very willing to work with him on this. The instruction is very good as are the extracurricular activities. This year the administration was awarded two grants that will help them with some of their more difficult educational challenges. Testing data does not provide a good measure of how much this school does for its students. Close Quote

Open Quote Some teachers who direct traffic for parent pickup/drop off is disorganized and just rude. One of them banged on the roof of the car while shouting to move. Close Quote
