Summary

Meridian Ranch Elementary School is a PK–5 public school in Falcon, CO, serving 670 students and part of El Paso County Colorado School District 49. It currently ranks in the top 18% of Colorado elementary schools (169th of 943, 82nd percentile, 4 stars), and its performance has climbed to the highest point in at least a decade after recovering from pandemic disruptions.

Academically, Meridian Ranch stands out dramatically. On 2025–2026 CMAS tests, 64.5% of students were proficient in English Language Arts and 60.1% in math—about 19 and 24 points above the district average, and roughly 20 and 23 points above the state. The school compares favorably to nearby schools, too. It outperforms Pikes Peak School Expeditionary Learning by 8 points in math, leads Woodmen Hills Elementary School and Inspiration View Elementary School by roughly 10 points in both ELA and math, and even posts a higher science score than Edith Wolford Elementary School in nearby Academy District 20. This is strong evidence of a high-quality, consistent instructional program across the building.

Perhaps the most distinctive finding is how the school achieves these results. Meridian Ranch's Hispanic students have ranked in the top 5% statewide for three straight years, and its low-income students rank in the 75th–79th percentile—both exceptional equity outcomes. The school also lowered chronic absenteeism to 17.6%, better than most nearby schools. Meanwhile, the share of students qualifying for free/reduced lunch jumped from 17% to 27% over two years, yet achievement rose, showing real resilience. Two areas to watch: 5th-grade math dips noticeably from earlier grades, and outcomes for Gifted and Talented students are lower than expected. Still, for a school this large, Meridian Ranch offers an unusually strong combination of overall excellence and support for students who often need it most.

Open Quote Both my son attended District 49 Meridian Ranch International Elementary School for the last 3 years. I have seen advantages and disadvantages in this school. The advantages are; every teacher they had communicated well with me and went the extra mile to ensure they were on the right track. The school activities included everyone and were very educational.

The disadvantages are; the school leadership lack of discipline and cannot keep my kids safe of bully incidents. For the last two years, the school bully used verbal and physical aggravation against my kid. He also used verbal and physical harassment to other kids in school witnessed by my wife during lunch time. Nevertheless, school monitors failed to address this type of behavior. My twin boys also witness this kid disrespect teachers during class and never seen him reprimanded. They said the school faculty considers him the “special kid”.

We met with Meridian Ranch Leadership many time to discuss a plan of action to improve the school environment for my kids. After making some adjustment the situation improves for a couple of weeks; but, the verbal and physical aggravation continues. Personally, I have lost faith in the faculty. Close Quote
