Summary:

Westminster Public Schools, located in the Westminster, Colorado area, serves roughly 7,518 students across 16 campuses, including 13 elementary-level schools (mostly PK-8), one middle school, and two high schools, and is ranked 96th of 115 Colorado districts with a 1-star rating. The district serves a high-poverty community, with about 83% of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch and a chronic absenteeism rate of 38.4% that exceeds the state rate of 28.4%. On CMAS state tests, district proficiency averages are roughly half the state averages in both ELA (24.0% vs. 44.7%) and math (17.6% vs. 37.3%).

While the district average is low, there are meaningful bright spots. Colorado STEM Academy is the district's clear standout, ranking in the 82nd percentile statewide with 61.1% ELA and 59.2% math proficiency, and a chronic absenteeism rate of just 15.6%. Metropolitan Arts Academy has the district's best attendance at 11.5% chronic absenteeism and posts strong 8th-grade science results. Sherrelwood Elementary School is a math bright spot with 28% all-grades math proficiency. Westminster High School graduates 90% of its students, though SAT proficiency trails the state.

At the other end, Hidden Lake Secondary ranks in the 0th percentile with a 44% graduation rate, 18.2% dropout rate, and 80.2% chronic absenteeism, while Fairview Pk-8 posts the district's lowest test scores. Middle-grade math is a consistent weakness across many schools, though several campuses, including Colorado STEM and Josephine Hodgkins Leadership Academy, improved meaningfully year-over-year. Families should weigh the wide range of school experiences carefully when choosing a campus.
