Summary:

ZIP code 95111 has 11 schools—seven elementary, three middle and one high school—serving students from elementary through high school. In 2025–26, the 10 schools with results averaged 31% proficiency in English language arts (ELA), 22% in math and 16% in science, compared with California’s 49%, 38% and 36%. The clearest overall takeaway is that most schools’ results were below state rates, but performance varies sharply across the ZIP code.

KIPP Heritage Academy stands out at the top in its available 2024–25 results: 78% in ELA, 57% in math and 56% in science, respectively 29, 20 and 23 percentage points above state results; SchoolDigger ranked it in the 88th percentile statewide that year. Its scores are from an earlier year than the other schools’ latest results. Among schools with 2025–26 results, Andrew P. Hill High led ELA at 54% and science at 28%, while G. W. Hellyer Elementary led math at 32%. At the other end, Lairon College Preparatory Academy had the lowest results in all three subjects: 15% in ELA, 8% in math and 3% in science—34, 31 and 33 points below state rates.

Across the 10 schools, average results changed little from 2024–25 to 2025–26, while California’s rates rose more, especially in science; the school-to-state gap widened by 3 points in science and 1 point in math. Grade-specific results can offer a more direct comparison: Stipe Elementary led third-grade math at 50%, above the state’s 47%, while Edenvale Elementary led fourth-grade ELA at 46%, just above the state’s 46%. SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile for Sylvandale Middle rose from 25 in 2023–24 to 32 in 2025–26, while Franklin Elementary fell from 35 to 25. Hellyer also had the lowest reported student–teacher ratio, 12.3, compared with Edenvale’s 25.5; free/reduced lunch eligible figures for 2024–25 ranged from 61% at Stipe to 86% at Captain Jason M. Dahl Elementary, useful context but not a measure of school results. KIPP’s results are from a different year, and all-grade results combine different grade spans.
