Golden Hill K-8 is a 464-student K–8 school in San Diego, where nearby public schools show mixed results. Its elementary grades have several bright spots, but the most important finding is a pronounced middle-grade math weakness: proficiency falls from 40% in grade 3 to 0% in grade 8, compared with 36% statewide in grade 8.

Elementary ELA is a neighborhood strength: Golden Hill’s grades 3, 4 and 5 results were 44%, 49% and 56%, above the averages for nearby K–5 schools of 40%, 39% and 40%. Grade 5 science also stood out at 43%, compared with 27% at nearby K–5 schools and 36% statewide. By contrast, all-grades math proficiency was 21%, versus 38% statewide and 46% in the San Diego Unified district.
