Summary

Nuview Elementary is a K-6 public school serving 663 students in Nuevo, CA, within the Nuview Union School District, and it shows notable strengths in supporting specific student groups while working to improve overall academic performance.

The school has made impressive progress in improving student attendance, dramatically reducing chronic absenteeism from 48% to 19% in just three years—a better rate than the state average and a standout achievement compared to nearby schools like Palms Elementary, which reports 35% chronic absenteeism. Academically, test scores in English and Math are below state averages but are similar to or slightly better than other schools in its district, such as Valley View Elementary. A key finding is that Nuview spends more per student than several higher-performing schools in the area, including Triple Crown Elementary and May Ranch Elementary.

Despite moderate overall scores, Nuview Elementary excels at educating English Language Learners, students with special education needs, and students experiencing homelessness, ranking well above average for these groups statewide. The school's performance has been improving, moving from a 1-star to a 2-star rating, and it appears to be on a positive trajectory, particularly in its effective support for vulnerable students and its successful strategies to get children to school regularly.

Open Quote The school is in its fifth year of low Performance (PI). Teachers are abusive to children and very uncaring. I had to remove my child from this school. Teacher and yard supervisors consistently bully the children. They focus more on discipline than on learning. Horrible place. Close Quote
