Summary:

Val Verde Unified has 22 schools—12 elementary, five middle, four high and one alternative—serving students from elementary through high school in the Val Verde area. The supplied 2025–2026 results cover 21 schools; Val Verde Student Success Academy has suppressed results, so school averages and trends below compare the other 20 schools. Overall, math is the broadest academic concern: the average across those 20 schools was 24% proficient, 15 percentage points below the state’s 38%. The clearest parent takeaway, though, is that results can vary sharply among schools at the same level.

Several schools stand out in different subjects. Among elementary schools, Triple Crown Elementary led in ELA and science, scoring 55% and 43%—14 and 20 points above the other elementary schools’ averages. Victoriano Elementary led elementary math at 44%, 16 points above its peers’ average. At the other end, Columbia Elementary had the lowest elementary ELA score, 27%, while Val Verde Elementary had the lowest elementary math and science scores, 15% and 12%. Vista Verde Middle led scored middle schools in ELA and science; Lakeside Middle led in math. Among high schools, Citrus Hill High led ELA at 56%, and Rancho Verde High led math and science. Val Verde High was lowest in all three subjects: 10% ELA, 1% math and 5% science.

Across the 20 schools, average ELA and math results were essentially flat from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, while science rose 2 points; state science results rose 3 points. Individual schools moved differently: science increased 12 points at Lakeside Middle and 8 points at Orange Vista High. SchoolDigger statewide rankings also shifted: Manuel L. Real Elementary rose from the 28th to the 47th percentile between 2023–2024 and 2025–2026, while Avalon Elementary fell from the 57th to the 43rd. The reported low-income measure is free/reduced lunch eligible, for 2024–2025: Victoriano reported 84% and scored 51% in ELA and 44% in math, while Columbia reported 96% and scored 27% and 17%; these figures provide context, not an explanation for school results.
