Summary

Woodrow Wilson Elementary is a K-6 public school serving about 700 students in the Corona-Norco Unified School District, known for its strong and improving academic trajectory, especially in supporting specific student groups.

The school is on a positive upswing, recently improving its statewide ranking and outperforming both district and state averages in English and Math. It shows exceptional strength in educating Hispanic students and students with special needs, ranking in the state's top tiers for these groups. However, science scores are an area for growth, and attendance rates have been inconsistent compared to more stable schools like Garretson Elementary or Dwight D. Eisenhower Elementary. Interestingly, the school achieves these solid results with moderate per-student spending, operating more efficiently than some neighbors like Foothill Elementary.

When compared to other local schools, Woodrow Wilson holds a solid middle position. It outperforms nearby schools with similar student populations, such as Orange Elementary and Foothill Elementary, but its overall scores are not yet at the level of the district's highest performers like Temescal Valley Elementary. The school's effectiveness with economically disadvantaged students is a notable strength, suggesting it provides strong targeted support that helps many children succeed.

Open Quote The school for the most part is just OK but the leadership needs serious help. Principal and vice need some serious coaching on how to talk to kids. Ruling by fear is unacceptable. And forget it if you child is a high achiever. They do not have programs set in place to challenge them. We may live right by the school but we are looking to district transfer, that’s how horrible the school is in a whole. Close Quote
