Summary

Columbia Elementary is a 704-student K–5 school in Perris, California, in the Val Verde Unified area, where several other elementary schools are nearby. In 2025–2026, 27% of students were proficient in English language arts (ELA), 17% in math and 21% in science, below both state and district rates in every subject. Most importantly, Columbia had the lowest all-grades proficiency in all three subjects among itself and the three nearby schools that also serve only K–5.

Science is Columbia’s strongest subject relative to the benchmarks, while ELA and math show the largest gaps. Columbia’s ELA proficiency was 23 points below the state and 15 below the district; its math result was 21 points below the state and 6 below the district. In science, the gaps were 15 points to the state and 5 to the district. The same-span comparison tells a similar story: Triple Crown Elementary, Mead Valley Elementary and Manuel L. Real Elementary averaged 47% in ELA, 37% in math and 32% in science—20, 20 and 11 points above Columbia, respectively. Columbia’s grade-level math results also fall from 24% in grade 3 to 11% in grade 5.
