Summary:

Chaffey Joint Union High has 11 high schools serving grades 9–12, including comprehensive, continuation, online and community-day options. Across the 10 schools with reported 2025–26 results, average proficiency was 61% in English language arts (ELA), 38% in math and 38% in science, compared with state averages of 49%, 38% and 36%. Those averages mask substantial differences: the highest-to-lowest gaps were 73 percentage points in ELA, 68 in math and 59 in science. The most important finding for families is that results vary sharply by school, with Valley View High (Continuation) below the state in every subject by 39 points in ELA, 30 in math and 29 in science.

Los Osos High leads the comprehensive schools in ELA and math, at 83% and 59%, and is second in science at 51%; Etiwanda High leads comprehensive schools in science at 53%. Chaffey District Online High, with 93 students, has the highest reported math and science scores and the second-highest ELA score: 77%, 67% and 78%, respectively. Those results are 39, 31 and 29 points above the state. SchoolDigger awards five stars to both Los Osos and Chaffey District Online. At the other end, Valley View has the lowest reported score in each subject, at 10% in ELA, 9% in math and 7% in science.

Science improved at every scored school from 2024–25 to 2025–26; the 10-school average rose 9 points to 38%, while the state rose 3 points. The ELA average, by contrast, slipped 1 point to 61%. Other indicators add useful context: Valley View’s chronic absenteeism is 88%, compared with 18% statewide, while Chaffey District Online’s is 61%. For 2024–25, all schools report the same low-income measure, free/reduced lunch eligible; among comprehensive schools, the reported share ranges from 44% at Los Osos to 87% at Ontario High, illustrating that the measure alone does not distinguish school results. SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile for Alta Loma High fell 15 points between 2023–24 and 2025–26. Chaffey Community Day’s test results are state-suppressed, and results from online and continuation settings may not be directly comparable with comprehensive schools.
