Summary:
High schools in 85034 include 10 schools: nine Great Hearts academies and Gateway Early College High School; most serve grades 6–12, while Scottsdale Prep serves grades 5–12 and Gateway serves grades 9–12. The Great Hearts schools are consistently above Arizona’s all-grades proficiency rates of 41% in ELA and 33% in math, while results vary more when Gateway is included. The clearest overall finding is that the nine Great Hearts schools average 65% in ELA, compared with 25% at Gateway.
Chandler Prep stands out across the broadest set of results: it leads in all-grades ELA at 76% and math at 67%, respectively 4 and 7 percentage points above the next-highest schools; it also leads reported science results, with 77% in 11th grade and 67% in 8th grade. Scottsdale Prep has the strongest 11th-grade results, at 95% in ELA and 88% in math; its ELA result is 13 points above the next-highest, Glendale Prep, at 82%. At the other end, Gateway’s 25% all-grades ELA is 16 points below the state rate and 40 points below the Great Hearts average. In 11th-grade ELA, Gateway also records 25%, compared with 55% at Cicero Prep, the next-lowest school.
SchoolDigger rankings improved from 2023–24 to 2025–26 at eight of the nine Great Hearts schools: Veritas Prep moved from 36th to 15th, North Phoenix Prep from 24th to 11th, and Scottsdale Prep from 8th to 3rd; Cicero Prep shifted from 46th to 47th. The figures do not show a simple student–teacher ratio pattern: Chandler leads with a 13.6 ratio, above the listed-school average of 12.7, while Cicero has a 10.9 ratio and lower results than several schools with higher ratios; Gateway’s ratio is 16.0, and it serves a different grade span. SchoolDigger rankings are relative positions, the ranked pool changed over time, and AASA results cover one year; Gateway’s math result is suppressed and free/reduced-lunch entries are blank.
