Summary

Washington Elementary School is a public elementary school in Phoenix, Arizona, serving 720 students in grades PK-6. The school is part of the Washington Elementary School District, which is ranked 212 out of 289 districts in the state and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Despite the school's relatively high per-student spending, which has ranged from $7,643 to $9,468 in recent years, Washington Elementary consistently ranks among the lowest-performing elementary schools in Arizona. In the 2024-2025 school year, the school's proficiency rates were just 14% in 4th grade English Language Arts, 12% in 5th grade ELA, and 12% in 5th grade Math, compared to state averages of 46%, 38%, and 37%, respectively. The school's performance is particularly concerning for certain student subgroups, such as White students and English Language Learners, who both ranked in the bottom 10% of Arizona elementary schools.

The challenges facing Washington Elementary School appear to be shared by the broader district, as nearby schools like Alta Vista Elementary and Richard E. Miller School also perform poorly, with similar low proficiency rates and statewide rankings. This suggests that the issues at Washington Elementary may require a more comprehensive, district-wide approach to address the systemic factors contributing to the school's struggles.

Yet was mistreated, abused, and called bad name's. By most of the, staff on site. Let's not forget, lack of supervision. Academically not otherwise would I. Recommend this school to anyone.
