Summary

El Mirage Elementary School is a public school serving grades PK-8 in the Dysart Unified District in El Mirage, Arizona, with 728 students enrolled.

While the school has seen some areas of success, such as relatively strong performance among Hispanic and Multi-racial students, it has consistently underperformed compared to district and state averages on standardized tests. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, only 37% of 3rd graders were proficient in English Language Arts, compared to 41% for the district and 36% for the state. In math, 53% of 3rd graders were proficient, compared to 46% for the district and 42% for the state. The school has also struggled with higher dropout rates than the state average, ranging from 2.6% to 6.1% over the past few years.

When compared to other nearby schools in the Dysart Unified District, El Mirage Elementary generally performs worse on standardized tests and has higher dropout rates. However, some schools, like Marley Park Elementary and Legacy Traditional School - Surprise, have significantly outperformed El Mirage Elementary, suggesting that there may be successful strategies or approaches that could be replicated at El Mirage. The school's high percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 36.88% to 79.84% over the past few years, indicates a high level of economic disadvantage among the student population, which likely contributes to the school's academic challenges and may require additional resources and support.

Open Quote I am a student teacher at El Mirage Elementary. I truly love this school and all of the staff. There are some challenges but the overall school is great! There is a great team of staff members that really care about the kiddos. I have requested to be placed here for the last year and wish I would able to stay to be employed here if I didn't have to move. Once again I love this school and if you want your student to have a great team of educators that love and care about the students as well as teach wonderfully, this school would be great for your child! Open Quote My daughter is in 8th grade now at El Mirage School and I have NOTHING GOOD to say what so ever. Parents have told that some students SELL DRUGS during lunch time and nothing was done about it. I was shocked!!!

I've noticed teachers don't really care about what students have learned through out the school year. When a student needs help, there is not enough class time for 1 on 1 help because how big the class size is. I know some kids that had poor grades in the last quarter but at the end of the school year the grades all of a sudden change form a "D" to a "B". These students are being passed along to the next grade level and not fully understanding what they should have learned the year before. I don't understand why a teacher can leave a student struggling the years to come.
I'm happy that I moved my daughter to a different school. This school is just the worst! Close Quote
